Überlingen is a German city on the
northern shore of Lake Constance in Baden-Württemberg near the border with
Switzerland.
After the end of the war, all
aviation activities were temporarily banned in Germany. In 1958, however, the
development of flight controllers was resumed, and in 1960 - with the contract
for the European Sidewinder program
- a separate subsidiary was founded under the name Fluggerätewerk Bodensee
GmbH. In 1968, the company was renamed Bodenseewerk Gerätetechnik
GmbH (BGT).

Cessna 172J Rocket D-EJPA flew for 35
minutes over the lake Constance between Zurich and Überlingen
carrying only four passengers inclusive of two of us from Pakistan
International Airlines. It was a remarkable flight at night time indeed. It was
my first foreign travel after open heart surgery in 1990. I used to go for a
morning walk daily in -1 degree Celsius. We were living in a rented two bed
room’s house. The cat of our landlord used to walk with me every day to help me
motivated for the next morning, hahaha.
