My intention is not to publicize my trip to foreign world
but to passing forward what I have learned from the world. There is no doubt
about beauty of West Germany I visited to explore rather was on an official
duty assigned to test and accept the upgrading of a Boeing-720 autopilot system
computer test bench by a well-known manufacturer over there.
(This is a random picture
from internet as the real B-720 autopilot system computer test bench is not
available)
I landed at Frankfurt airport on June 5, 1969, was well received by the
owner of manufacturing company himself who drove me to his huge residential
property in a classic posh area of Hamburg. After warm welcome His wife and 12
years old son sat down in living room with English to German and German to
English dictionary to exchanging our views about our homelands along with
personal detailed introduction. Not much problem was faced in communications as
I had already done German language diploma from Goethe Institute Karachi due my
PIA job requirement.
All day discussions after so long travel helped me to have a very sound
sleep in a very comfortable room allotted to me. Before leaving next morning for
factory Michael, owner’s son asked me time to back home in the evening which
was told to him as per his father’s advice. Unfortunately we could not make it in
time and reached back home 1.5 hours late which was normal for me as this late
was according to our norms and we were used to it. But Michael was so angry
that he did not see me, went to his room upstairs, and did not talk to me for
the remaining stay neither said good bye while leaving for Karachi after 22
days.
I was so upset, asked his parents to please explain me the attitude of
their son but they were sorry except telling me that he liked to chat with me,enjoyed my company very much but was not expecting telling a lie from me. I was so ashamed to learn it from a child at the age of 23 of mine. Since
then I am trying my best not to tell any lies whatsoever happens.
